From basic research to industrial partnership

FC-LAB

Joint Laboratory of Belfort
« Hydrogen and fuel cells for transport applications » (FC-LAB)

Description

The FC LAB institute was created on January 1st 2006 for 4 years. It is located in Belfort and gathers the employees of different organisms: CEA, CNRS, INRETS, INPL, UHP (Nancy), UFC (FEMTO- ST and LEES) and UTBM.
The institute has at its disposal several equipments but also buildings and infrastructures given by UTBM. The FC-LAB members work on joint research projects (for more than 33% of their full-time) which sometimes involve other laboratories. The joint laboratory has a board of directors including a representative for each centre and sets up the laboratory policy.

Objectives of the FC-LAB

its objectives are centred on the integration, durability and reliability of fuel cell systems. This laboratory will have to integrate itself in the national network of university, INRETS, CNRS, CEA which are in connection with other laboratories working on subsystems (such as fuel cell core). In fact, it concerns power ranges exploration for transport applications (APU, power of traction generator s) on the two following themes:
• Conception/integration of PAC systems in a transport environment
• Durability and reliability of PAC systems in transport environment

FEMTO-ST participation to FC-LAB

FEMTO-ST is a partner of a team-project on the theme “integration and durability of fuel cell systems in a transport environment”. This team is mainly located in Belfort in the UTBM premises. The theme treated by FEMTO-ST are “Mechanics of materials” (FEMTO-LMARC) and “Thermics, Fluidics and Metrology in these fields” (FEMTO-CREST)
