Gil Fanjoux received the DEA degre of "interaction matière et rayonnement" in 1991 and the Ph. D. Degre in laser spectroscopy of gas in july 1994 from the Université de Bourgogne, Dijon. He studied the influences of molecular collisions on the vibrational and rotational Stimulated Raman spectra of gas, N2, CO2, O2, H2O typically.
In 1996, he got a permanent position in the Université de Bretagne Occidentale, Brest, where he studied the heterogeneous catalysis of molecules chemisorbed on surface in UHV by the MIES (Metastable Impact Electron Spectroscopy) and UPS (ultaviolet Photoelectron Spectroscopy) technique.
In 2002, he transfered to the Université de Franche-Comté in Besançon, in the departement d'optique of the FEMTO-ST institute. He studies the spatial solitons in Kerr media. He has more specifically studied the spatiotemporal dynamics of spatial solitons in Kerr waveguides generated by Modulation Instability, and he currently studies the slow-light process on spatial solitons.
