Laurent Hirsinger has studied the fields of Mechanical Engineering as well as the Electrical one at the Ecole Normale Supérieure of Cachan (ENS Cachan). He received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of P. & M. Curie of Paris in 1994. He was working as a researcher in the “Laboratoire de Mécanique et Technologie” of Cachan (France) when he obtained a Research Fellow position at C.N.R.S. in 1996. He joined the Department of “Applied Mechanics” of the Institute FEMTO-ST at Besançon (France) in 2000. His researcher interests are the couplings between magnetism and mechanics in magnetostrictive materials and in ferromagnetic shape memory alloys (e.g. Ni-Mn-Ga), and, the energy scavenging using MEMS and piezoelectric materials. In January 2008, he joined the new Department “Micro Nano Sciences & Systems” of the Institute FEMTO-ST to focus his research on thin film materials and theirs applications in Microsystems.
