Research interests:
Mayeul Chipaux’s research focuses on advancing quantum science and technology (i.e. quantum sensing, computing, and cryptography), using diamond-based systems (solid state, room temperature…). In particular, he develops innovative quantum control methods that repurpose the conventional uses of Scanning Electron Microscopy and plasmonic antennae to manipulate individual qubits at the nanoscale, and, leveraging principles from Cavity QED and quantum thermodynamics, explore novel entanglement schemes at very large scales (up to 10¹⁶ qubits).
Biography:
- Double engineering curriculum education from ESPCI Paris-PSL / PSL University and Institut d’Optique / Paris-Saclay University (2007–2011)
- PhD in the industrial context of Thales Research & Technology / Thales SA with Dr. T. Debuisschert and Prof. J-F. Roch (thèse CIFRE). PhD degree delivered by ENS Paris-Saclay (December 2014)
- Postdoc in the biomedical engineering department of the university hospital of Groningen in the Netherlands with Prof. R. Schirhagl (2015–2018)
- Joint postdoc between the Lumin laboratory in Plateau de Saclay / Paris-Saclay University, France and Saarland University in Saarbrucken, Germany (2019)
- Principal Investigator of an “Ambizione” grant form the Swiss National Science Foundation in the laboratory of Prof. N. Grandjean / Institute of Physics / EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), Switzerland (2020-2024)
- Junior professor of Université Marie et Louis Pasteur, research at FEMTO-ST institute (Since November 2024)
