Thibaut Sylvestre

<p>Originally from France, I graduated from the University of Franche-Comté in Besançon and I received the diploma of advanced studies (DEA) and the Ph. D (doctorat) in engineering sciences in 1995 and 1999, respectively. Over these years, I studied fundamental aspects of nonlinear optical effects such as parametric amplification and stimulated Raman scattering in optical fibers. I then started a postdoctoral stays abroad in the field of nonlinear optics at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Belgium. I worked on passively mode-locked fiber lasers and Raman amplification for telecommunications. In 2001, I was appointed full-time researcher at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in the FEMTO-ST Research institute, in Besançon, France. In 2006, I received the French post-doctoral degree allowing its holder to supervise Ph.D Students. I am now working within the Nonlinear Optics group of the FEMTO-ST research institute, where I am supervising theoretical and experimental studies of fundamental nonlinear optical phenomena with the aim of investigating potential applications to telecommunications, lasers and fiber sensors. I am a member of The Optical Society of America and of the IEEE Society and the French Society of Optics (SFO). In 2012, I received the Fabry-de-Gramont award from the SFO for scientific achievements in the field of nonlinear photonics.</p>
