Colloquium Thomas W. Ebbesen : "Alchemy of Vaccum"

FEMTO-ST has decided to organize an annual seminar cycle and to host world-class scientific personalities in its various fields of knowledges.

Thomas Ebbbesen, professor at the University of Strasbourg, is the first guest of the FEMTO-ST Colloquium. His presentation entitled "The Alchemy of Vaccum" will take place on April 1st in the Emilie du Chatelet amphitheatre at the ENSMM, Besançon

Open to everyone, this presentation is intended to illustrate the potential of light-matter states

Summary : Light-matter strong coupling can give rise to a multitude of exciting physical effects through the formation of hybrid light-matter states. The implications for molecules and material have remained mostly unexplored. After introducing the fundamental concepts, examples of modified properties of strongly coupled systems, such as charge and energy transport, and chemical reactivity will be given to illustrate the potential of light-matter states.
