Workshop of the French organization for Waves (GDR Ondes)

FEMTO-ST - TEMIS BUILDING

The Physics and Engineering of Sub-λ Structures group of GDR Ondes organizes a two-day workshop around the topological aspects of wave propagation, especially in photonic/phononic crystals and metamaterials.

Many high-impact international publications on the trendy topic of the topological properties of wave propagation have been appearing in recent years. A challenge is to achieve classical equivalents of topological insulators: for instance to generate unidirectional edge states that are not radiating in the bulk, to excite guided modes that are protected from defects along a waveguide or 1D corner states that are topologically protected, and so on. During the workshop, we would like to discuss freely the promises and the reality attached to these new concepts, and also to hear young researchers presently contributing to the advancement of the field.

Talks and posters could be in either French or English and could be about theory, experiment or applications in the filed of waves.
