Agathe Figarol

<p>Agathe Figarol received her PhD in 2014 from the Ecole des Mines de St-Etienne for her work on the link between the toxicity and the physicochemical properties of carbon nanotubes. After a year as a regulatory toxicologist, she worked as a post-doctoral researcher, first at the Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse on the transport of polymeric nanocarriers through the endothelium into tumours, then in Osaka University on a 3D in vitro blood-brain barrier model. In 2020, she was a temporary lecturer at the Jean Lamour Institute and the Nancy Faculty of Pharmacy.<br /><br />Since 2021, Agathe Figarol has joined the <strong>BioInterfaces aNd Devices</strong> group, in the MN2S department. She aims to develop instrumentalized <strong>organ-on-chip </strong>models to assess the biological response of healthy and tumoral vascularized tissues - with a focus on the brain microvasculature and <strong>glioblastoma</strong> - to innovative drugs such as <strong>nanocarriers</strong>.<br /><br />In parallel, she teaches at the <strong>ISIFC</strong> school of engineering. On the first year, she comes back to the fundamentals in biochemistry.
