ENERGY Research teams

Our ENERGY Department is made up of two teams: SHARPAC (Hydrogen-energy systems, actuators, control, production, storage, and electrical energy conversion) and THERMIE (Thermics, flows, instrumentation and energy efficiency), each of which is organized around pivotal scientific focus points in the heart of the profession.

This type of organization allows for both an efficient structure for the department’s scientific projects, but also reinforces the visibility of the department’s research at the international level, and simultaneously targets both national and international industrial interests.


› SHARPAC : Hydrogen-energy systems, actuators, control, production, storage, and electrical energy conversion

The SHARPAC team possesses transdisciplinary scientific skills in "Electrical Engineering" (electrical engineering, automatic control, industrial computing). Based on a recognized historic expertise in fuel cell systems and in electric machine design, the SHARPAC team today is completing and enlarging the breadth of its scientific activities, in the service of complete hybrid electric systems, from the source to the consumer.

The fields of application include both innovative powertrains for electric vehicles and stationary energy systems coupled with renewable energy. The team also plays a predominant role in the research federation FCLAB devoted to hydrogen energy systems.


› THERMIE : Thermics, flows, instrumentation and energy efficiency
The "THERMIE" team conducts research in the fields of thermal science and fluid mechanics. These investigations are focused on energy efficiency in energy conversion systems; they require researchers to understand physical energy phenomena in the development of sensors and diagnostic methods for flow, modeling, design and the production of heat engines.
