DMA : Internship "Elastography for soft matter"
Context : This internship is part of a collaborative research project between FEMTO-ST (Besançon-FR) and EPFL (Lausanne-CH, Prof. H. Shea) aimed at developing low-cost elastography systems for soft objects. Ultrasound elastography (USE) is an imaging technology sensitive to tissue stiffness that was first described in the 1990s [1]. Elastography-based imaging techniques have received substantial attention in recent years for non-invasive assessment of object mechanical properties [2].
In collaboration with a post-doc at EPFL, the internship will focus on the development of a proof-of-concept, consisting in a silicone-based demonstrator, excited by electromagnetic actuators, embedding MEMS accelerometers
developed at EPFL. The intern will develop a digital twin with Comsol Multiphysics, that will be validated and used to generate the data required to train the neural network
The internship will last 5 to 6 months, starting in February 2025.
