PhD : Experimental and numerical study of the interphase properties of plant fibre/lignin-epoxy composites using a micromechanical approach

Description: This PhD Thesis offer is part of the RE-Fibre project (DC8). The main ambition is to develop high strength, lightweight, fully bio-based and recyclable composites using recyclable lignin-derived epoxies and polyurethanes and plant fibre reinforcements (flax and hemp). To reach the requirements for the industrial application of composites, it is necessary to better understand the interaction of epoxy resins with plant fibres and the physicochemical phenomena that take place in the interface region during plant fibre impregnation and epoxy curing

PhD: Sustainable multifunctional lignin bio-fibre composites made of plant fibres and biomass-derived, non-toxic, repairable-recyclable epoxy polymer

Description :  This PhD Thesis offer is part of the RE-Fibre project (DC9). The main ambition of this project is to develop high strength, lightweight, fully bio-based and recyclable composites with water- and fire-resistance using recyclable lignin-derived epoxies and polyurethanes and plant fibre reinforcements (flax and hemp).

Applied Mechanics : Internship "PINNs for Structural Dynamics"

Context :Deep learning methods based on neural networks are universal approximators and have been applied for many years to identify the parameters of systems represented by mathematical models. However, their performance depends on the data used for training. The objective of the internship is to develop a deep learning algorithm in which the convergence would be driven by constraints from the physics of the system.
These constraints can be expressed, for example, in the form of PDEs or a finite element model.[...]

DMA : Internship "Elastography for soft matter"

Context : This internship is part of a collaborative research project between FEMTO-ST (Besançon-FR) and EPFL (Lausanne-CH, Prof. H. Shea) aimed at developing low-cost elastography systems for soft objects. Ultrasound elastography (USE) is an imaging technology sensitive to tissue stiffness that was first described in the 1990s [1]. Elastography-based imaging techniques have received substantial attention in recent years for non-invasive assessment of object mechanical properties [2].
