Fabrice Devaux was born in Caen, France, on December 23, 1967. He graduated from the Institut d'Optique graduate school in Orsay in 1991 and then he received his Ph.D Thesis in nonlinear optics from the University of Franche-Comté, Besancon, in 1996. His Ph.D was carried out at the Optics Laboratory P.M. Duffieux on optical parametric amplification of images.
He is currently a full professor at University of Franche-Comté in Besançon and he conducts his research activities at the Optics Department of the FEMTO-ST Institute. He is involved with theoretical and experimental investigations of optical and quantum imaging using optical parametric amplification, with nonlinear imaging through complex media, with numerical modelling of light propagation in complex and nonlinear media and with spatial photorefractive phenomena in lithium niobate crystals.
