Prix spécial du Jury sur le salon MICRONORA

Un microrobot développé par une équipe de recherche de FEMTO-ST pour améliorer la chirurgie laser des cordes vocales a reçu le prix spécial du jury sur le salon MICRONORA

Contexte

Chaque année, plus de 3000 nouveaux cas de cancer des cordes vocales sont détectés en France, nécessitant dans la plupart des cas des interventions chirurgicales contraignantes (anesthésie générale, positionnement en extension de la tête du patient pour accéder aux cordes vocales entraînant des douleurs post-opératoires non négligeables, risque de brulure pour le patient en cas de mauvais positionnement du chirurgien…)

Pour améliorer les conditions de l'opération et la sécurité liée à l'utilisation du laser, les chercheurs de l’institut FEMTO-ST ont mis au point un système micromécatronique pour la chirurgie robotisée des cordes vocales dans le cadre du projet européen µRALP qui les associe avec l’Institut Italien de Technologie et l’Université d’Hanovre.

Innovation

L’équipe MINAROB du département « Automatique et Systèmes Micromécatroniques » de FEMTO-ST a ainsi conçu un microrobot de moins d'1 cm3, guidé par retour visuel.

Placé au bout d'un endoscope flexible, il assure l’orientation d’un faisceau laser afin d’effectuer une phonochirurgie qui permet une réduction du temps d’hospitalisation et une diminution de la douleur.

Autres applications potentielles

Cette innovation, récompensée à l’occasion de Mincronora 2014, pourrait également, à terme, être intégrée dans d’autres systèmes de chirurgie laser et pour des systèmes de nanopositionnement compatibles avec le vide pour la nanomanipulation.
