L'odyssée des chercheurs de FEMTO-ST à travers l'Europe

Initié en mars 2011, et grâce au soutien financier du FEDER, du Conseil Régional de Franche-Comté et de OSEO, le projet ULISS va entrainer des chercheurs de l'Institut FEMTO-ST de Besançon dans une odyssée à travers toute l'Europe, avec un premier départ le 15 février en direction de Neuchâtel puis de Toulouse (CNES), Göteborg...

L'objectif du projet ULISS est de présenter un prototype d'horloge cryogénique ultra-stable, spécialement conçue pour être transportable par la route, qui va être testée en grandeur nature auprès d'utilisateurs potentiels ciblés (agences spatiales, observatoires...)sur différents sites européens en vue de recenser les opportunités de marché pour ce type d'instrument de très haute stabilité de fréquence. En effet, celle ci ne dérive pas de plus d'un demi milliardième de seconde par jour et présente une autonomie de plusieurs années.

Cet oscillateur a été réalisé en 2010 dans le cadre d'un contrat de recherche entre le département Temps-Fréquence de FEMTO-ST et l'Agence Spatiale Européenne (ESA)et sera d'ailleurs installé dès le mois d'avril prochain en Argentine à Marlargüe dans la station au sol de l'ESA pour la navigation des sondes interplanétaires.
