Michaël Gauthier, new director of FEMTO-ST

A new team is taking over the management of the institute for a 5-year term starting in January 2024.

Over the coming years, the institute will continue its strategy of international excellence and connection with the territory, which is part of its DNA, with support for international-level research and collaboration with the economic environment of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

The new management will launch new multidisciplinary scientific initiatives focusing on current concerns such as artificial intelligence, sustainable development technologies, health technologies, and quantum technologies, for example.

FEMTO-ST will also intensify its corporate social and environmental responsibility efforts with a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Finally, since research heavily relies on people, the attractiveness and quality of work life will be a primary concern for the new management.

The new director will be accompanied by Thérèse Leblois and Marie-Ange Manier, appointed as deputy directors.

2024 will also mark the 20th anniversary of the creation of FEMTO-ST, providing an opportunity to highlight the laboratory's numerous successes and to project onto the challenges of the coming decades."
