Vincent Placet received a PhD degree in wood science from University Henri Poincaré of Nancy, France, in 2006 and an habilitation degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Franche-Comté in 2013. In 2006, he became research engineer at FEMTO-ST Institute in the Department of Applied Mechanics. Since 2014, he is the head of the Damage Tolerance and Durability of (Bio)Composites team (T2DC) in the Applied Mechanics research department of the FEMTO-ST Institute. His main research interests are thermo-hygro-mechanical behaviour of wooden materials and plant fibres, long-term durability, fatigue tolerance and health monitoring (based on acoustic emission) of composite materials and structures.
